A well-established legal organization is seeking a talented Legal Secretary to join a collaborative team of dedicated legal professionals in its Chicago office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigation secretary who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.


Overview

The Legal Secretary will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to multiple attorneys. This role requires a proactive, organized, and detail-driven individual who can work independently, anticipate needs, and maintain strict confidentiality. The ideal candidate is professional, resourceful, and committed to delivering exceptional work and outstanding client service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage case files and handle document production
  • Perform extensive e-filing in administrative, state, and federal courts
  • Draft, proofread, and edit correspondence and legal documents
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and attorneys as needed
  • Apply knowledge of state and federal court rules and civil procedures
  • Maintain legal calendars using electronic rule-based calendaring systems
  • Coordinate multiple attorney calendars, meetings, and travel arrangements
  • Process travel and expense reimbursements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with timekeeping and document-management systems
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a litigation secretary supporting multiple attorneys
  • Experience in transactional law or administrative hearings is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $30-$40, commensurate with experience
